Can it be low to show a negative result in your pregnancy test? and if yes is this bad? and if no what are other reasons for being pregnant and showing a negative result?

Generally a pregnancy test will show positive at anything of around 25miu or above. An average pregnancy at 4 weeks will have levels of around 100; at 4 weeks 2 days it’s around 200, 4 weeks 4 days 400 and so on. Therefore if a pregnancy test is showing negative then it’s usually a strong indication a woman is not pregnant.

George asks…
After a tubal pregnancy surgery, how long will the HCG hormone stay in your body?
How long does it takes for the pregnancy hormone to leave your body? I just had an ectopic tubal pregnancy and had surgery yesterday. If I take a pregnancy test today, will it come back positive or negative?
Gem, obviously you dont know the answer to the question so dont try to answer it.

There will probably be trace amounts of hCG in your blood (and urine) for about 3-5 days, but maybe as long as a week. It takes time for your body to stop producing the hormone and to flush it from your system. So if you took a test today, it may still come back positive.

It depends on the person. When I was pregnant, I was only at 15 mIU the day I missed my period…
Deal is, it doubles every 2-3 days, so if you’re looking at a light line and wanting to try one of those digital tests, give it a couple days.

HCG is a normal hormone the pituitary produces, but not in levels as high as the placenta produces. In addition, the placenta HCG is chemically different & can be tested separately from the pituitary HCG. After all that, after the placenta is delivered, the HCG hangs around about 24 – 48 hours. After that, it is pretty much gone.
